The Department of Tourism was formed on 23rd January 2004 when it was bifurcated from Historical Studies and Tourism Management.The department offers BBA – Tourism UG degree courses to 360 Students coming from different parts of Pondicherry, Mahe, Yanam, and Karaikal. Apart from regular classroom teaching, the course also offers. On the job training programme in the Hotel Industry and Travel Industry and to impart them working exposure to the travel industry. It is unique that TGASC is the only Government College in Pondicherry that offers BBA - Tourism degree course.

VISION

 The sole objective is to prepare the young graduates professionally equipped with the knowledge and skills to lead tourism and the allied areas of businesses. The department maintains close rapport with its alumni for placements and collaboration in academic activities. The department maintains impeccable and impressive track record of placements. The department strives tirelessly to emerge as a centre of excellence in tourism arrangement education. The department acts as a change agent for principled, socially responsible and creative leadership in Tourism education, industry and need based quality education for present and future business and academic leaders.

MISSION

 The department strives a great deal to attain the goal of inspiring students to gear up for facing the industrial and career challenges and enriching the best tourism management practices.

SCOPE OF THE PROGRAM

 The program aims to develop the students towards professional and academic excellences inputs to fulfil to the requirements of the goal posts of changing travel, tourism and hospitality industry.
